Public Works Report

Public Works crews have been jet-rodding the sewer system from top to bottom and should be done in the next week or so. This involves digging up all the manholes and exposing them, pulling debris out of them and cleaning with a jetter nozzle along with checking for infiltration and any signs of cracks and leaks.

We recently installed a culvert across Porcupine Rd below the Mortimer and Dove cabins to allow us to bring material from the water tank project to widen that section of road.

A slash pile has been started below the plant and we are working with John Halley to bring a wood chipper up in the next week or two to start processing wood chips.  We are working on an agreement with the Town of Taos to bring them wood chips along with our sludge but there should be chips available for residents here in TSV. For more info contact the village office.

Starting Tuesday, July 7th the village will be working on a dust application project in conjunction with Protégé Construction. They will be bringing in road base material, blading and grading equipment, compaction and water truck to put down an application of dust control/road stabilization material from Ensolutions, a natural tree sap by-product that we hope makes a big difference for the community. They will start at the beginning of Twining Rd and go up as far as the intersection of Coyote and OE Pattison. As time and material allow we will also try to include a section at the Beaver Pond on the corner of Zap’s Rd. We ask residents to be patient during the next week or two as traffic may be a little congested and slow during this process. We hope that this makes a significant difference in the village and that we can add to this each year in the budget.

The village recently sent Lee and Lea Fulmer to a recycling conference in Albuquerque to get information and contacts on how to improve our current recycling process. They brought back some excellent information and did a report that will be very useful as we try to make our recycling efforts a more viable process. I will try to sit down with them at some point to draw up a plan that the village can go forward with in the future.
