A RESOLUTION DESIGNATING FIRE LANES AND PROHIBITING PARKING.


WHEREAS, due to weather conditions within the Village of Taos Ski Valley (hereinafter referred to as “the Village”) the roads become narrow and snowpacked during the winter months, and;


WHEREAS, during the winter months, many vehicles attempt to park on the roadsides, and;


WHEREAS, when vehicles are parked on these roadsides, the roads become too narrow for emergency equipment to safely pass along the roads, and the vehicles hinder the Village’s efforts to clear snow from these roads to facilitate the passage of emergency equipment, and;


WHEREAS, there exists alternative parking available within the Village.


NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the governing body of the Village of Taos Ski Valley, New Mexico that:


1.       The following public roads are designated as firelanes and parking is prohibited from the roadsides from November 1st through April 15th of each year:


Big Horn Hill Road                                                                                       O.E. Pattison Road

Bull of the Wood Road                                                                                Phoenix Switchback Road

Chipmunk Lane                                                                                           Porcupine Road

Cliffhanger Loop                                                                                          Snowshoe Road

Coyote Road                                                                                                           Thunderbird Road

Dolcetto Road                                                                                                         Twining Road

Ernie Blake Road                                                                                        Wolf Road

Kachina Road                                                                                                          Zap’s Road


2.       A First Notice of an illegally parked vehicle will be attached to the vehicle. The First Notice will state that the vehicle must be removed within 24 hours or it will be removed by a private towing company or other appropriate concern.


3.       If the vehicle is not removed within twenty-four (24) hours, or if the same vehicle is found again illegally parked within twelve months of the First Notice, a Second Notice will be issued.


4.       A Second Notice will state that immediate removal will occur. At the time of the Second Notice, the Village may immediately contact a private towing company or other appropriate concern for removal of the vehicle.


5.       All towing and storage expenses will be the responsibility of the owner of the vehicle.
